We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of modern desktop applications built on the Microsoft .NET platform. In this role, you will design, develop, and enhance business-critical software solutions while working closely with cross-functional teams.

You will apply software engineering best practices to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-quality applications that support ABB's technology and innovation objectives.

You will work closely with other developers to design, develop, test, and improve business-critical applications while following modern software engineering practices.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid) Preferred location: Quartino, Switzerland  

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance desktop applications using C#, .NET, and WPF technologies
  • Collaborate with software engineers, domain experts, and stakeholders to design and implement high-quality software solutions
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues while continuously improving application performance and reliability
  • Contribute to software architecture, code reviews, and development best practices to ensure maintainable and scalable solutions

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software development using C# and the .NET ecosystem
  • Experience with WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) and solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
  • Knowledge of software design patterns, application architecture, MVVM, dependency injection, and modern .NET development practices
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET applications, REST APIs, source control systems (e.g., Git), and software development best practices such as Clean Code and Clean Architecture
  • Basic understanding of DevOps concepts, CI/CD practices, testing methodologies, and Agile/Scrum ways of working
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, and professional proficiency in English
