Key responsibilities

In this role, you will take responsibility for all on-site activities of medium to large-scale projects in the field of electrical and control engineering, e.g. infrastructure projects (BESS, substations), H2 / Power-to-X generation plants, water (waterworks, sewage sludge incineration, wastewater treatment plants) – with the goal of delivering project results cost-effectively, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is contributing to the Automation Business Area, Division Energy Industries in Mannheim. Main stakeholders are project managers, colleagues, subcontractors, and customers.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Managing construction sites in the field of electrical and control engineering, coordinating and steering all on-site activities – from construction, installation, and testing through to commissioning and final customer acceptance – while ensuring compliance with contractual specifications, quality standards, schedules, and safety requirements
  • Providing technical leadership to the project team and subcontractors, including monitoring proper execution through to acceptance
  • Participating in regular site meetings as the first point of contact for safety, construction execution, and commissioning, in close coordination with customers, subcontractors, and project managers
  • Ensuring continuous construction progress, including regular reporting and complete site documentation
  • Maintaining a confident, solution-oriented approach even in stressful or challenging situations
  • Occasionally supporting the preparation of quotations for installation and commissioning tasks

Qualifications for the role

  • Completed vocational training or a degree in electrical engineering or automation technology (technician, bachelor's degree, or equivalent)
  • Passion for technical solutions along with strong communication skills, assertiveness, organizational talent, and team spirit
  • Enjoyment of on-site construction work, primarily within Germany
  • High willingness to travel for project assignments across Germany, sometimes on-site continuously for several weeks to months
  • Very good written and spoken German, as well as good English skills
