On a mission

At DeltaQuad, you will work on technology that truly matters. As a pioneer in long-range electric VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) drones, we develop robust platforms in collaboration with trusted partners, deployed across the globe for defence, agriculture, and inspection. Our drones are reliable, user-friendly and built to perform in demanding environments.

We combine technical innovation with a pragmatic approach. What we do today determines where we’ll be tomorrow, and you play a crucial role in that journey.

Our core values:

  • Partnerships: We grow together through long-term collaboration and shared success.

  • Customer focus: We think and act based on our customers’ needs.

  • Ownership: We take responsibility for what we do.

  • Innovation: We seek smart, practical solutions that work.

  • Excellence: We aim for quality and results.

  • Team spirit: We build trust, growth and enjoyment together.

The role

As an (Embedded) Software Development Engineer, you help shape the brains of these systems by developing software that makes our drones smarter, safer, and more capable in real-world scenarios.

Do you enjoy working on complex systems with real-world impact? Are you hands-on, precise, and ready to push the boundaries of autonomous flight technology? Then we’re looking for you.

Your work contributes to meaningful innovations that strengthen safety, resilience and response capabilities across Europe.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded and high-level software in C++, Python, and Rust for UAV platforms

  • Develop and integrate embedded flight control and mission software using PX4 and ArduPilot

  • Implement and maintain communication interfaces and protocols, including MAVLink, for real-time UAV systems

  • Develop software for embedded and companion computing platforms (e.g. microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson)

  • Ensure software robustness, product stability, and reliability across all operational modes

  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and build systems to support scalable development

  • Manage software versioning, revision control, and configuration using Git-based workflows

  • Support certification activities through structured development processes, documentation, and traceability

  • Collaborate closely with systems, hardware, and test teams to support large-scale production and long-term maintainability.

What you bring

  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of experience as a software engineer or developer, ideally in aerospace, robotics, or embedded systems.

  • Hands-on experience with C++, Python, Go, or similar programming languages.

  • A strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle.

  • Experience with debugging tools, testing methodologies, and automation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

What we offer

  • Coaching and room to grow professionally.

  • 27 vacation days (based on full-time).

  • Lunch provided by DeltaQuad.

  • Travel reimbursement of €0.25/km or full compensation for public transport (2nd class).

  • Working in an innovative high-tech environment with real-world impact.

  • Flexible working hours and a healthy work-life balance.

  • An open, informal company culture where your ideas are valued.

  • Monthly team drinks and regular team activities.

Please note that, as part of our recruitment process, we may request a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and conduct a background screening in accordance with our screening policy. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation throughout this process.
