This position reports to:

Research Department Manager - Control Technologies & Automation Components

__

Key responsibilities

The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Mechanical System Design & Analysis: Design and develop mechanical systems incorporating linkages, cams, springs, and damping elements for MV circuit breaker pole actuation. Perform kinematic and dynamic analyses to ensure optimal motion profiles and response times Account for friction, wear, and mechanical constraints in the design process
  • Modeling & Simulation: Develop comprehensive mathematical models of the electromechanical system  Perform multi-body dynamic simulations to validate mechanical performance and predict system behavior Conduct parametric studies to optimize spring constants, and geometric parameters
  • Hydraulic System Integration: Evaluate and integrate hydraulic components (cylinders, valves, accumulators) where beneficial for system performance Model hydraulic flow dynamics and pressure characteristics Analyze synergistic effects between electromagnetic and hydraulic actuation

Qualifications for the role

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of classical mechanics, dynamics, kinematics, and control theory.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent design tools.
  • Knowledge of multi-body dynamics simulation tools (e.g., ADAMS or comparable software).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or similar platforms for system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Basic understanding of electromagnetism, including solenoid operation and linear motor principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical engineering challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
