Mechanical Engineer

Design, simulate, and optimize cutting-edge robotics hardware for groundbreaking humanoid robot development.

Making History

How will humanoid robots transform the world in the future? Are you confident to be one of the first 10 talents in our Physical Robotics team?

We are looking for candidates who are genuinely passionate about robotics/AI and have a strong desire to innovate. They should be excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and demonstrate a track record of creative problem-solving.

The candidates should have experience in designing, simulating, and CNC programming, as well as a deep understanding of the field's technical challenges and advancements. They should be able to see opportunities where others might see only challenges and devise innovative solutions to problems.

Vision of the Company

Physical Robotics is a start-up company based in Norway. The company is backed by local industries and investors in the Oslo-Viken region. We are at the forefront of humanoid robot development, creating robots that can perform physical tasks similar to those of humans for jobs that humans do not want to do.

The company focuses on developing robot hardware and physical intelligence, with the ambition to build the next innovative generation of humanoid robots. We collaborate with global leaders such as Tesla, Figure, Boston Dynamics, Toyota, Xiaomi, and 1X Technologies. We aim to capture the application trend of humanoid robots in manufacturing and industries by 2027-2028.

Abstract

The position is among the first 10 core team members, each bringing individual expertise to develop a humanoid robot from scratch. The candidate will take responsibility for the entire mechanical workflow of the company at the outset. In the next phase, the candidate is expected to lead the mechanical team.

Collaboration of the Candidate Within the Company

  1. With CEO/CTO: To receive input on the concept, robotic calculations, and simulation results.
  2. With an Industrial Artist: To gather input on the robot shell design.
  3. With Another Mechanical Engineer in the Production Company: To send out drawings and ensure components are producible.
  4. With the Control Team: To provide the output model.
  5. With the Testing and Assembly Team: To verify the design.

Expected Qualifications and Background of the Candidate

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from a high-ranking university.
  2. At least 3 years of experience running and/or programming modern CNC machines.
  3. Proficiency in CAD.
  4. Experience with structural optimization.
  5. Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques to ensure manufacturability for medium and high-volume production.
  6. Proven experience bringing complex products from concept to production.
  7. Fluent in drawing, simulating, and handling large amounts of parts in a machine (e.g., ~500 parts for a robot).
  8. Preferred qualifications include high-standard mechanical design experience, winning well-known robotics competitions, or patenting experience.

Benefits

  1. Incentive Option Program: Be part of the international talent team and enjoy benefits from the incentive option program.
  2. Competitive Salary: Option to relocate to the company's headquarters in Norway.
  3. Exposure to Advanced Technologies: Work with cutting-edge technologies in material sciences, electronics, machining, software, and AI over the next five years.
  4. Innovative Work Environment: Enjoy working on groundbreaking projects in a creative and inspiring setting.
  5. Professional Growth: Be part of a team leading rapid advancements in robotics.
