Key responsibilities

Join ABB's Process Control Platform R&D team and help develop and maintain industrial control and communication platforms used in mission-critical applications worldwide. Working in an international environment, you will contribute to both the development of new products and the continuous improvement of established platforms. You will collaborate closely with hardware, software, and system experts to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle. sinngemäß ins deutsche übersetzen

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Develop hardware and embedded system solutions for new industrial automation products.

  • Enhance and maintain existing product platforms, supporting feature expansions, lifecycle management, and continuous product improvements.

  • Contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements and design through verification, release, and long-term product support.

  • Work closely with software teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.

  • Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust solutions.

  • Evaluate new technologies, components, and communication interfaces for future product generations.

  • Collaborate with international teams, customers, suppliers, and technology partners.

  • Be a contact person for EMS concerning manufacturing tests

Qualifications for the role

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in this or a comparable field.

  • Solid knowledge of digital and analog circuit design.

  • Experience with embedded software development is an advantage.

  • Programming experience in C/C++; knowledge of Assembler or scripting languages is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with development tools, debuggers, and laboratory measurement equipment.

  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet technologies such as PROFINET, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, or similar is a plus.

  • Experience with the use and scope of industrial standards for embedded systems, as well as a good understanding of their application areas and requirements.

  • Business-fluent German and fluent English skills.
